JUNIOR PROFESSIONAL OFFICERS (JPO)

Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR)

Title: Associate Expert in Human Rights (JPO)
Sector: Indigenous Peoples and Minorities Section
Location: Geneva, Switzerland

Qualifications:

· Master degree in degree in social sciences, law, political sciences, international relations or relevant field
· At least two years of work experience in a field related to the promotion and protection of human rights, including on issues related to the rights of indigenous peoples.
· Ability to relate human rights issues and perspectives, including gender issues, to indigenous issues and to related political, social, economic and humanitarian programmes in affected countries and areas.
· Fluency in English. Working knowledge of French and knowledge in Spanish is an asset.

Department of the Peacekeeping Operations, UN Secretariat

Title: Associate Expert in Gender Affairs (JPO)
Sector: Office of Military Affairs
Location: New York, USA

Qualifications:

· Master’s degree in the field of Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Affairs or related field.
· At least two years of work experience in gender, human rights or related areas.
· Field experience and knowledge of peacekeeping is essential.
· Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of French is desirable.

Hakuaika päättyy 31.3.2014 klo 16.15 (Suomen aikaa).

Mitä hakijoilta vaaditaan?

YK-apulaisasiantuntijoiksi hakevilta edellytetään:

- ylempää korkeakoulututkintoa,
- erinomaista englannin kielen taitoa,
- toisen YK:n virallisen kielen taitoa,
- 1-2 vuotta koulutusta vastaavaa työkokemusta,
- Suomen kansalaisuutta sekä
- korkeintaan 32 vuoden ikää.

Tehtävien kesto on kaksi vuotta (kolmas vuosi mahdollinen).
